I don't think you can. It's just with time those memories have less strength that they did at first.

Pray specifically for her (or him). That way, instead of contributing to their fall, you could impact their salvation.

If this isn't a joke, the its an interesting concept. I'm interested to hear the results of someone who's tried this. Sounds like the typical advice given by Christians who have no experience in rebooting. In my experience, praying for the salvation of someone you find sexually arousing enough to masturbate to leads to judgmental behavior("forgive them for they no not what they do,but I certainly like fantasizing about them. Why do they tempt me so?")
It was your damn fault you watched porn. Put in the time, reboot and eventually, the images will go away. It took me well over a year to get rid of all the images in my head-especially during sex.

Thinking about porn stars will make me forget them, sure.

The purpose of this method is aimed at dealing with highly intrusive flashbacks.  Not just arousing memories of porn that we choose to act on.  Most of the intrusive flashbacks are the ones that are violent or unpleasant, not the ones we choose to replay and fantasize over.  And how do you deal with intrusive thoughts?  The same way you deal with them during meditation.  When you try to meditate and quiet your mind, you realize just how intrusive your thoughts can be.  And the way you dismiss intrusive thoughts is by first acknowledging them, and then let them go.  It is the same concept behind this article.  A religious person who finds strength in God and spirituality would find prayer to be very effective and comforting.  Prayer is a powerful way of acknowledging the intrusive thought and to come to peace with it.

I never watched any violent or unpleasant porn. Christians must be real perverts.

That is the most judgmental comment I have seen on this forum.  This is not the place for religion bashing.  Anyone should be able to share their experiences here without hateful remarks from hateful people.  I have no feelings of ill will for atheists or any other groups like you obviously do for Christians.  It's just these confrontational, hateful atheists that I have little patience for.

Christians suffer from the same issues as anyone else because everyone is human.  I never searched for or was aroused by any violent porn, but I still unintentionally came across it, and I wish I hadn't.

I can understand how some people may have misgivings for religion.  There is a lot of it that I don't agree with or identify with.  But please, express your bitterness somewhere else.

I did. I stopped believing in invisible friends over 40 years ago. And its not my fault it seems to be religious people in here talking about violent intrusive porn imagery. A whole lot of those televangelists sure are real perverts.

I think it's a good idea. Doesn't apply to me at all but I see why it would benefit others.

Interesting concept. I'm not religious, but I can imagine how this might effectively replace urge for porn. Religious consciousness and concern for another's spiritual well being are both well opposed to the sexual state, similar to other thoughts that are completely unrelated to sexuality. If thinking about things that are completely non-sexual can be helpful, then this practice can probably help as well, since religious thought may be particularly incompatible with sexual urges in religious people.

Except Matt Fradd and Jason Evert (contributors to the site) have extensive experience and are accomplished speakers and writers on the subject. Fradd had deep addiction and successful recovery. I don't think they would disagree with anything you said. You're probably reading too much into the article and possibly relying on your biases. Either that or you deeply misunderstand Christian prayer: judgement is by God only, and there are no quick fixes (God has two speeds: slow and stop).

I'm stunned by what I'm reading here.
I never watched any violent or unpleasant porn. Christians must be real perverts.
I did. I stopped believing in invisible friends over 40 years ago. And its not my fault it seems to be religious people in here talking about violent intrusive porn imagery. A whole lot of those televangelists sure are real perverts.
I thought the entire concept of this sight was encouragement and find a path that works for you?  Kind of a "to each his own"  Why this major hateful christian bashing? Hey BadOnion, shut up you insignificant hateful people bashing worthless piece of crap.  People are trying to find freedom here and who are you?  Your brand of porn is better than someone else's?  Is that why you need help, is that why you are here to share your wisdom and insight?  It's better to remain silent in your case, you have so much growing up to do.

Prayer may not be for everyone but for some it is very helpful.  If you've never tried it before don't worry it's not like meth.  It's not hurtful or addictive, neither is Christianity.  Feel free to try or not to try, that's the point of anything suggested on this forum is it not?

Oh yeah, praying the porn away is grown up... Same idiot concept as pray the gay away
If praying is an idiot concept then so is anything conceptualized on this forum, is "posting the gay away" helping you?  Let's try not calling others methods idiot contraptions.

I don't mind of you guys don't agree but if you hate or think something is an idiot concept perhaps you either do not understand the concept deeply enough or it simply hasn't worked for you.  If you really disagree with something try these things in this order:
1. Ask for clarification, like how does something like this help or work? Or do you know someone this has worked for?
2. Silence
3. Leave website forever
4. Hateful comments

Make sure you follow this order, that way hateful comments can go somewhere else.
Just tell me what to do.

Again, grow up. The only thing more boring than a fundamental Christian is a fundamental atheist who has 'blind faith' in his superiority due to his rejection of something that can neither be proved nor disproved. Blind acceptance in any stance without definitive proof is exactly that, blind. You are no different from those who preach crazy about hellfire, convinced they are correct. Your fundamental belief in your being correct is just the same.

For the record, I'm not religious. But nor do I mock those who are. To do so is a sign of disrespect to them, and to myself, as it demonstrates an intellectual dishonesty that would betray me as a fool.

There's no need to abuse people, it makes you appear as an idiot.

Prayer really is an idiotic concept though. Where is God when nearly half of the world's population lives in poverty/unsuitable living conditions? Yet you're concerned with praying for porn stars? Hasa Diga Eebowai

You can't prove a purple unicorn won't fly out of your closet one day and give you a blowjob either, but it would be pretty fucking stupid to spend your life preparing for it. Religious people are morons. End of story.

Religion is hypocrisy, nothing more. A bad ego taken to the max!

And exactely as you said before, porn affects everyone, because before being religious, we are humans first of all. And since people can recover by not engaging in prayer and other superstitions, it's a shame we have to involve religion in this matter. If it helps you, good, but keep it private, don't brag about it on a forum where all we know has some logical explanation.

Where was your god when you got into porn? Where is he to take you out?

All big bullshit!

Simply don't act on them. I may not have control over a pair of boobs flashing across my mind but I can control how far it goes.
